We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer because we are not required to do so under Article 37 GDPR. For all privacy-related requests, contact us at the email address above.

2. Personal information we collect

We collect only the information you voluntarily provide to us:

  • Contact form submissions: first name, last name (optional), email address, company name (optional), country (optional), and the content of your message.
  • Email correspondence: any information you choose to share when you email us directly.
  • Technical information automatically collected: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, and timestamps. This data is processed by our hosting provider (Vercel) and email provider (Resend) for the purposes of operating, securing, and troubleshooting the Website and detecting abuse.

We do not knowingly collect special category data (such as data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data, health data, or data concerning sex life or sexual orientation). Please do not submit such information through the contact form.

3. How we use personal information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your inquiry and provide the information requested.
  • To communicate with you about a potential advisory engagement, including scoping calls and follow-up correspondence.
  • To deliver our Services when an engagement is agreed.
  • To maintain the security, integrity, and proper operation of the Website, and to detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To comply with legal obligations, defend legal claims, and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal information on the following legal bases under Article 6(1) GDPR:

  • Performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b)): to respond to your inquiry, prepare proposals, and deliver Services you engage us for.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): to operate, secure, and improve the Website, maintain business records, and pursue or defend legal claims. We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): where you actively check a consent box on the contact form. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): to comply with applicable law, regulatory requirements, court orders, or lawful requests from public authorities.

5. Disclosure of personal information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We disclose personal information only to the following categories of recipients:

  • Service providers (processors) acting on our behalf: Vercel Inc. (website hosting and edge infrastructure) and Resend (transactional email delivery). These providers are bound by written agreements that restrict their use of personal information.
  • Professional advisors: lawyers, accountants, and auditors, where strictly necessary to obtain professional advice or comply with legal obligations.
  • Public authorities: where required to comply with a valid legal request, court order, or applicable law.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition, subject to standard confidentiality and continuity-of-protection commitments.

6. International transfers

BCE Ventures is established in the United States. Personal information you submit is processed in the United States and may also be processed by our service providers in other jurisdictions. Where personal information is transferred from the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to a country that has not received an adequacy decision from the relevant authority, we rely on appropriate safeguards under Article 46 GDPR, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, for UK transfers, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or UK IDTA, as executed with our service providers.

You may request a copy of the safeguards we apply by contacting us at hello@bcev.net.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

  • Contact inquiries that do not lead to an engagement: up to 24 months from the last communication, after which the records are deleted or anonymized.
  • Client engagement records: for the duration of the engagement and up to 7 years afterward, to meet contractual, tax, accounting, and legal record-keeping obligations.
  • Server and email logs: retained by our hosting and email providers for short security and diagnostic windows, typically not longer than 30 days.

8. Your rights - EU, UK, and Swiss residents

Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal information:

  • Right of access (Art. 15): obtain confirmation as to whether we process your personal information and request a copy.

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized or unlawful access, accidental loss, alteration, or disclosure. These include transport encryption (HTTPS/TLS), restricted administrative access, and use of reputable service providers.
